About

Megan is predominantly a woven textile designer who enjoys combining other various aspects of textiles, such as printing, within her work. Inspired by a new movement in sustainable design 'Emotional Durability' Megan looks at her personal cultural heritage as a way to inform this innovative design approach.

Gathering primary research of photographs from significant places Megan is able to create material mood boards, drawings and collages to develop an understanding into different textures/surfaces which inform her work.

Colour and materials are an important process within her designs. Carefully chosen, Megan matches them to the places which hold personal memories and narratives. Crossing disciplines and combining soft and hard surfaces are explored to create sculptural pieces. Each design process is important in creating empathy and emotion within the designs, forming a sense of attachment.
