Weave In, Weave Out, focusses on an ethereal narrative-driven approach. Identity and cultural preservation are inspired by relatives who descend from a line of traditional Romanian weavers. Megan fuses her British and Romanian heritage to connect certain surroundings to her craft. Taking stock of different processes has pushed soft woven work into hard sculptural forms. Colour and surface textures are derived from important places to attach a visceral sense of place. Reflections into the traditional Romanian wall-carpet are found through the use of durable, economical materials. These insulating properties would be found within an interior context. Each piece is purposed to age with the user, growing old with the fabric. Megan's woven textiles lends itself to print design and sculpture due to the slow processes and flexibility of their structures. Using these platforms allows expression of design with greater narrative stamina across multiple disciplines.
